“The biggest challenge in leadership is how to drive and create culture. COVID made it look different, but it didn’t change that challenge. We still needed to help our culture drive our mission.”
CAV’s mission is “To share grace and see Christ change lives,” but getting 25 different people with 25 unique personalities to move in the same direction on that mission proved to be difficult. Even though that was the case, Clint wasn’t looking for an immediate solution. He was in search of a solution that would help him be a better leader. Up until stumbling upon Leadr, Clint was a habitual notetaker, tracking thoughts, plans, and meetings on a trusted legal pad. After five years as CAV’s executive pastor, he realized this practice was ineffective.
When I started looking into things, it didn’t come from a place of ‘this isn’t working, I have to find a solution.’ When I discovered Leadr, I thought that maybe this can help with communication and culture, and how we’re creating and trying to accomplish goals.

Simplified communication among Crew Members helped to build and maintain a good culture.
Clint implemented Leadr for himself as a way to stay organized and keep track of meetings, but quickly realized that it would benefit the entire staff. Effective communication is one of the key aspects of a successful organization, and a lack thereof can be a huge detriment. He knew Leadr could strengthen and simplify CAV’s communication, which would have a positive and direct impact on their culture. Clint saw this firsthand through Leadr’s own team.
Clint was most impressed by how Leadr took charge of training CAV’s crew members, how they streamlined the onboarding process and lessened the learning curve of a new software.
Implementing any new software for an entire organization can be tricky, but having the right team to help you makes all the difference, Clint emphasized.

Strengthened communication may have had the biggest impact on CAV’s culture, but there is a lot more to great culture than just communication, and Leadr was able to help in those areas, as well. Clint spoke of development, continued learning, and appreciation for staff, all of which can be done using the learning platform within Leadr’s software. This platform can be used individually, but can also be utilized by entire teams within an organization.
The ease of soliciting feedback has also been a key component to CAV’s success with Leadr. “You don’t often think, we do this event, we plan, we execute, we celebrate. But make sure you’re going back and reviewing it. Make sure you’re going back and soliciting feedback,” Clint explained. He says that Leadr has put everything into one place, making it nearly impossible to miss crucial steps in team leadership.
Intentionality increases as team members adopt Leadr.
Some question if using Leadr will make their relational or organic leadership style more rigid, but Clint maintains that that’s not the case.
If I were to describe how Leadr has helped the Church at Viera in one word, it would be: Intentional.

Organizational leaders often struggle in the busyness of leadership to find ways to be intentional with their teams, but it’s usually not from a lack of wanting to do so. Clint says that Leadr didn’t change who he is as a relational leader, it just allowed him to be more intentional in his own style of leadership. “Whatever it looks like for you, this system will come behind you and allow you to be the best version of yourself,” Clint said.
If he were to advise other pastors and leaders who are unsure of utilizing Leadr, Clint maintained that Leadr will help lighten an executive’s load. “Ultimately, that’s been the win. It’s come alongside me and put systems in place to help me be a better leader.” Clint said that’s been the case for CAV’s other Crew Members, as well. His final piece of advice to other leaders: “give it a shot!”
