Lucas Reid
Customer Success Onboarding Specialist
Lucas Reid is an Onboarding Specialist here at Leadr.
He graduated from Collin College in 2015 with an Associate of Arts in Theater. There he met his wife Sarah while performing in the show Les Miserables. A true Enneagram 2, he is always looking to help people and is energized by the opportunity to do so! With 4 years of experience in Customer Success, he is excited to now be a part of the Leadr team.
Outside of work, Lucas is happiest when learning a new recipe, teaching at a local acting studio, or being a total nerd playing dungeons and dragons. In a nutshell, he’s a Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) native who is always ready to talk sports and grew up playing just about all of them that he could. Lucas is also always down to grab some good ole TX BBQ.
Why I'm Passionate About Leadr
At Leadr, we all have a story of a poor management experience that led to our passion for people development and desire to work at Leadr. We call these our Nigel stories.
Nigel is a fictitious character we’ve worked with or for in the past with unhealthy leadership tendencies. We all have those tendencies within ourselves, and they can emerge unintentionally, impacting those around us.
We are all Nigels, or know a Nigel, and Nigel is why Leadr exists. Here’s Lucas’ Nigel story. What's yours?
I was just starting off in a new job and was really excelling inside of my new hire class as far as meeting and exceeding expectations. I was consistently near the top of my group in all important numbers and was someone who lifted other people up. One day, however, I received a call from my fiance at the time (now my wife), that she had just been in a car accident and wanted me to come to the scene and be there with her.
I had not accrued any PTO yet for being so new, but I asked my leadership team if I could leave to go check on my soon-to-be bride. They simply told me that if I did not have PTO I could not go as they do not allow unpaid time off. I decided that I was leaving either way and went to check on my wife who ended up being injured in the accident.
From that time on, I consistently slid to being very middle of the pack to even fairly low on the scoreboard until I completely moved off of that team. While I had a good relationship with my boss, there was another Nigel in the room who encouraged him to handle the situation that way. It has affected me to this day, as I will rarely ask for time off for important things out of fear that I will be reprimanded for trying to care for my family and then get stuck in a rut again.
Now, I am thankful to work on the Leadr team to help organizations recognize and reconcile poor management habits that impact team members in deep-rooted ways.
